MX2 is one of two classifications in the FIM Motocross World Championship, sometimes known as a feeder class for the MXGP classification.
The MX2 class has a rider age restriction of 15 to 23 years old, and can only include two-stroke engines from 100cc up to 125cc, or four-stroke motors from 175cc up to 250cc.
Kay de Wolf is the current MX2 World Champion (2024), winning the title after a closely contested season and at the last round Castilla la Mancha 2024 in Cozar, Spain.

MX2 Points Scoring System
The MX2 points system is 25-22-20-18-16-15-14-13-12-11-10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 for the top 20 finishers, for each of the two main races.
As of 2023, in addition to the race points the top ten qualifying riders from the MX2 classification will also score points. The rider who wins the Qualifying Race will receive 10 points, the 2nd will receive 9 points and so on, in a sliding scale down to 1 point for the 10th position.
